My interest in childbirth was ignited while preparing for the arrival of my second child. Following a less than satisfactory first birthing experience, I immersed myself in the various aspects of childbirth, focusing on how to empower my body, mind, and spirit. The day your baby passes through that sacred passage into the outside world, is one of the most memorable days of your life. Birth is not just about a "happy healthy baby", it is also about a "happy healthy mother", without one you cannot have the other. It is my belief that as a birthing mother we need to take charge in this sacred time to surround ourselves with those who make us feel safe comfortable and supported.
"As a Doula, it is my passion to ensure that families are fully informed and educated when it comes to making decisions about their bodies, their birth(s) and their babies. Whether you choose to have an unmedicated homebirth, or a planned belly birth, it is important that you, as the birthing mother, make the decision that's right for you and makes you feel the most empowered."
Deena completed her doula training through Doula Training Canada in 2021. She completed her certification in Labour and Birth Support, Childbirth Education and Postpartum support.
She continues to grow her knowledge throughout the years by reading books, attending webinars and listening to wise women in birthing communities.
She is also an approved doula with the Doulas for Aboriginal Families Grant Program!
As a postpartum doula, my passion lies in nurturing and supporting mothers during the transformative and vulnerable postpartum period. With a background in Health Science and Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University, combined with years of experience in holistic healing, I take a compassionate, whole-person approach to your journey. My role is to provide a safe, comforting space where you feel supported, seen, and nurtured, empowering you to navigate this season with confidence and grace. Together, we’ll embrace the challenges, celebrate the beauty, and uncover the strength and resilience already within you.
