Little Mountain Doulas, Deena and Ericka work as a doula team serving families in Salmon Arm and surrounding areas. They have been supporting families together since 2021. They specialize in supporting physiologic birth, birth assisted with medication, vaginal breech, water birth, twins, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean) and planned caesareans. They not only support you in labour and birth but also into the postpartum period, often referred to as the fourth trimester.
They unconditionally support your birth, your values.
"I personally experienced first hand the positive effect that women to women support can have during the intensity of the birth process and the upheavals of the postpartum period. I attended my very first birth 13 years ago to see if I was “cut out” to be a birth worker. I loved it right from the start but was not quite ready to make “the jump”. Two years later, after the incredibly fast home birth of my second daughter, I decided that the time was right to begin my journey as a birth professional.
My birthing philosophy is based on the Woman Centered Model Of Care that acknowledges pregnancy and birth as a normal, natural processes. I recognize that birth has a profound meaning to women, their families and communities and that those experiences stay with us over the course of our lives. As a doula, I have two philosophies that come into play during my support. First, I believe my clients should have full access to accurate information. Second, I believe that my clients should make decisions they feel are best for them personally.
Over the last decade, I have had the privilege of working with over 100 families throughout their pregnancies, births and postpartum! I am passionate about supporting families as they navigate through their pregnancies and births, while preparing them to thrive through all possible paths that birth may take. "
Pregnancy and birth is something that the average person only gets to experience a few times in their life. The day your baby passes through that sacred portal into the outside world, is one of the most memorable days of your life. Birth is not just about a "happy healthy baby", it is also about a "happy healthy mother", without one you cannot have the other. It is my belief that as a birthing mother we need to take charge in this sacred time to surround ourselves with those who make us feel safe comfortable and supported.
"As a Doula, it is my passion to ensure that families are fully informed and educated when it comes to making decisions about their bodies, their birth(s) and their babies. Whether you choose to have an unmedicated homebirth, or a planned belly birth, it is important that you, as the birthing person, make the decision that's right for you and makes you feel the most empowered."
"Birth Matters, and I believe the way a baby is brought into the world has an important impact on the rest of life. Helping with that transition is an honor." - Anjli Aurora Hinman, CNM
